1960s Fashion Icons

1960s Fashion Icons

The 1960s were a time of huge social change, in fact it was in this decade that the 'teenager' was born.  It's hardly surprising, then, that fashion was also revolutionised in this era.  Mary Quant created the mini skirt and immediately gained popularity, being worn by models such as Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton (who was famously photographed by David Bailey, the pair changing the face of fashion photography with their NY shoot for Vogue).  Another fasion icon of this decade was American first lady Jacqueline Kennedy whose signature Chanel skirt suits with pill box hats and cat's eye sunglasses are still described as 'very Jackie O'!

The huge changes of the 1960s mean that the fashion icons of this decade were truly revolutionary and redefined fashion in a way that still resonates today.

What do you think?  Who are your 1960s icons?
